So, you've finished your training at Give-Get-Go Education—congrats! 🎉 You’ve learned the skills, gained hands-on experience, and now you're ready to take on the creative world. But where do you start? Whether you're diving into project management, event planning, theatre, or film, here’s a simple guide to getting your career rolling.

1. Get Your Portfolio Ready

Think of your portfolio as your creative CV. Whether it’s production work, event planning, stage management, or acting, gather everything you’ve worked on.

·       Include photos, videos, scripts, or project breakdowns.

·        Keep it short and showcase your best work.

·       Make a digital version—LinkedIn, a website, or even a simple PDF can do wonders!

2. Network Like a Pro

In the creative arts, who you know is just as important as what you know. Start connecting with people:

·       Attend industry events, theatre shows, and film screenings—you never know who you might meet!

·       Stay active on LinkedIn & Instagram—share your work, comment on posts, and join creative groups.

·       Reach out to mentors or past instructors—they might know of job openings or projects you can join.

3. Gain Experience (Even Small Gigs Count!)

Sometimes, the best way to get into the industry is to start small. Look for:

·       Short films & independent theatre productions—great for actors, stage managers, and crew.

·        Local events & arts festivals—ideal for event planners and project managers

·        Freelance gigs—help plan a show, organise a launch, or assist with a production. These gigs help build your reputation!

4. Create Your Own Opportunities

Can’t find a job? Make one!

·       Start a YouTube channel or create short films if you're into film production.

·       Put on a play in a community space or team up with friends to run an arts event.

·       Offer your skills—whether it's stage managing, marketing, or running events, someone out there needs your talent!

5. Keep Learning & Stay Flexible

The creative industry is always changing, so keep upgrading your skills.

·       Take online courses (on event planning, marketing, or film editing).

·       Stay updated on trends—know what’s happening in theatre, film, and live events.

·       Be open to different roles—your dream job might come from an unexpected project!

6. Apply, Apply, Apply!

You won’t get every job you apply for—and that’s okay! The trick is to keep applying while working on personal projects.

·       Use job sites like Arts Jobs, The Stage, Mandy, and Creative Access.

·       Send emails—reach out to theatre companies, production houses, and event firms.

·       Stay persistent—the more you put yourself out there, the better your chances!

7. Believe in Yourself!

Starting in the creative arts can be tough, but everyone starts somewhere. Keep pushing, keep creating, and keep saying yes to opportunities. You’ve got the training—now go make things happen!
